Cameron Beach

A Greenville, South Carolina native, Cameron Beach attended Centre College in Danville, KY where she earned a BA in International Studies. During college, she particularly enjoyed taking an interdisciplinary course-load concentrating on development studies. She also completed a variety of internships with non-profits in the US and she spent a summer implementing a water treatment center with an NGO in Ghana.  By her senior year at Centre, Cameron had determined that she would pursue a career as an international development professional.

After graduation, she served in the Peace Corps in Malawi where she was a secondary education English teacher and also implemented public health and food security projects. After being evacuated due to COVID-19, Cameron spent some time living, learning, and working on a sustainable vegetable farm to better understand sustainable food systems. After the agricultural season, Cameron returned on her own to her former Peace Corps home in Malawi to continue teaching and working on food security projects with members of the community.  Upon her return to the U.S., Cameron was deployed as support staff for Operation Allies Welcome where she helped with the processing of Afghan Evacuees.

As a member of the 2022 Payne Fellowship Class, Cameron will begin a master’s degree program in Fall 2022. In her free time, Cameron enjoys swimming, cycling, and spending time with family and friends.
